The National Employment Standards (NES) are a set of 11 basic minimum entitlements that were introduced by the Fair Work Act 2009 (the Act) and include:  

  1. Maximum weekly hours
  2. Requests for flexible working arrangements
  3. Parental leave and other entitlements
  4. Annual leave
  5. Offers and requests for casual conversion
  6. Personal/carer’s leavecompassionate leave and family and domestic violence leave
  7. Community services leave (jury service and emergency services duty)
  8. Long service leave
  9. Public holidays
  10. Notice of termination and redundancy pay
  11. Fair Work Information Statement and Casual Employment Information Statement
