Ai Group Centre for Education and Training is managing a project funded by Apprenticeships Victoria to assist women to find apprenticeships and traineeships in engineering trades, IT roles and paraprofessional roles using Industry 4.0 (digitalisation) skills.
There are many benefits of taking on women as apprentices or trainees, including supporting the training of an apprentice or trainee to fill skills gaps, adding a different perspective to a work team’s problem solving and decision-making methods, and importantly, creating new career opportunities for women.
The Australian Apprenticeship Incentive Scheme offers a subsidy to employers to take on apprentices or trainees. Any business that engages an apprentice or trainee before 30 June 2022 may be eligible for a subsidy of 50 per cent of wages for a 12-month period from the date of commencement to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter. To find out more about incentives visit the Australian Apprenticeships website.
The project team is actively recruiting women for apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities in Engineering, IT and Industry 4.0. The support provided includes shortlisting of candidates, help for job seekers to develop their job applications and interview skills, and mentoring of apprentices and trainees for the project’s duration.
