Defence SA is supporting defence industry companies in South Australia with grants of up to $4,500 to help grow your business’s high-skilled STEM workforce in 2023.
Small and medium-sized companies can access grants of between $2,500 and $4,500 to the support the placement of each eligible intern placed with your company. Ai Group’s Centre for Education & Training will also assist your company in recruiting the best and brightest university undergraduate and post-graduate students from Flinders University, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. Support will also be given to establish and grow your company’s internship program.
In addition to your company grant, each eligible student will be paid $8,000 to undertake a semester-long unpaid internship in South Australia and help them gain real-world industry experience and knowledge while learning, and potentially secure employment at the end of their internship.
Large companies and Defence Primes can participate in the program too. Eligible students placed with these companies can earn a $10,000 scholarship for entry into an unpaid internship over the course of a semester.
Since 2020, the program has successfully placed fifty-four university students across seventeen companies in South Australia’s defence industry. Important dates: Applications for companies to join the program for 2023 are now open. Round 1 placements commence in January 2023. Round 2 placements commence in July 2023. Advertise early to avoid disappointment.
Paolo contributes to the Ai Group Centre for Education & Training's policies and is a member on a number of national and state secondary and tertiary education industry advisory bodies. Paolo project manages state government-funded projects centred on education-industry partnerships in the defence industry. He also administers the CET’s Member Network.
