Australian PSI®: Further weakness in services in July
Cautionary consumer spending and the waning influence of fiscal stimulus continued to drag down the services sector in July with the latest seasonally adjusted Australian Industry Group/Commonwealth Bank Australian Performance of Services Index (Australian PSI®) falling 2.2 points to 46.6 in July (below the 50 point level separating expansion from contraction).

Australian PMI®: Manufacturing remains in the black in July
The manufacturing sector entered its third quarter of growth in July on the back of stronger levels of production, new orders and deliveries. The seasonally adjusted Australian Industry Group – PricewaterhouseCoopers Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index (Australian PMI®) rose 1.5 points to 54.4 in July heralding a seventh straight month of growth in manufacturing (readings above 50 indicate an expansion in activity).
