Union Claims Regarding Federal Budget Highlight The Need To Tighten Fair Work Act Bargaining Laws
"The revelations today that the Unions intend to try to force employers to pay for increased costs experienced by employees as a result of the Federal Budget, highlights that changes are needed to the Fair Work Act to prevent unions taking strike action in pursuit of political claims," Ai Group Chief Executive Innes Willox said today.

Ai Group comment: PC draft report on childcare and early childhood education
"The Productivity Commission's draft report on Childcare and Early Childhood Education is a very detailed analysis of childcare issues in Australia. Pleasingly, the report adopts a number of proposals put forward by the Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) but other draft proposals are of potential concern. It is essential that any changes made to childcare arrangements do not have adverse impacts on workforce participation. Employers have a strong interest in ensuring that participation in the workforce is increased," Ai Group Chief Executive Innes Willox said today.

Gas market reform and increased supply urgently needed to reduce damaging impacts of higher gas prices
An alliance of six industry associations has today released the first comprehensive analysis of the impact of rapidly escalating gas prices on the Australian economy. The report projects significant negative impacts on Australia's manufacturing sector and adverse effects extending to the mining, transport and agriculture sectors. These are significantly larger than the output impacts of the carbon tax.
