Union superannuation claim is unfair on employers and on low paid workers
"The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) highlighted today how unfair the unions' Annual Wage Review superannuation claim is, both to employers and to low paid workers. The unions are only pursuing the claim for an extra 0.5% superannuation contribution in awards - no doubt because the National Minimum Wage Order cannot include superannuation provisions. Therefore, if granted, the lowest paid workers would be entitled to the existing 9.5% superannuation contribution and other workers 10%. The claim would be equally unfair upon employers," Ai Group Chief Executive Innes Willox said today.
