If you are interested in business arising from the Government’s new investment in the Australian Defence Force through procurement opportunities then read on…
The Federal Government has released its plans for more than $100 billion worth of spending over the next decade to improve the capacity of the Australian Defence Force to meet an array of future security challenges. Around half of this expenditure will be on new equipment purchases, with the rest on sustainment. The Government has previously committed to spending 60 to 70% of this funding in Australia.
This military upgrade offers Australian-based defence companies, or companies interested in entering the Defence supply industry, substantial opportunities to participate. More broadly, as a large long term spending commitment, the Defence blueprint will act as an additional economic stimulus. It will make a big contribution across the Australian economy for businesses and employment in fields such as manufacturing, construction, engineering, logistics and ICT. This will give companies the ability to plan for the future with more certainty - this is good for jobs and investment in skills, infrastructure and innovation.
