School-based Australian Apprenticeships

Students can achieve nationally recognised industry qualifications while still attending school, typically in Year 10, 11 or 12 so that they can complete their school studies while starting their Australian Apprenticeship. Australian School-based Apprenticeships have a number of features including:

  • Attendance at school and work
  • A training agreement, which links to an industrial award or agreement, signed by the employer and the person in training
  • Attainment of a Senior Secondary Certificate and a VET qualification
  • Wages are usually paid for the period of time in the workplace

Employers of Australian School-based Apprentices may be eligible for Commonwealth Australian Apprenticeship incentives including the Australian School-based Apprenticeship Commencement Incentive, Australian School-based Apprenticeship Retention Incentive and special State Government incentives for skill shortage occupations.

For more information contact Ai Group Training Services, Ai Group's MAS National's Australian Apprenticeship Centre free service or your local Australian Apprenticeship Centre.
