Underpinned by the ongoing drought and recent interest rate rises, services sector activity remained soft in January, with The Australian Industry Group - Commonwealth Bank Performance of Services Index (Australian PSI®) unchanged at 49.5 (still below the 50.0 level separating expansion from contraction).

Australian PMI®: Manufacturing starts the year on a softer note
A weakening in demand, coupled with the drought and other supply shortages, has contributed to slower growth in Australia’s manufacturing industry in January, with The Australian Industry Group - PricewaterhouseCoopers Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index® (Australian PMI®) recording 51.3 for the month, falling 1.1 points.
