YOUR FOOD'S CARBON FOOTPRINT

Ai Group and Sustainability Victoria are delivering a Resource Smart Industry Pilot Program that is seeking to measure and reduce the carbon footprint across the supply chains for two products in the food sector: SPC 410 gram can of peach slices in natural juice; and Bulla 2-litre tub of Creamy Classic vanilla ice-cream. Carbon saving opportunities will be assessed up to point-of-sale at a retail store in Melbourne. The project is considering farming, transport, packaging, processing, warehousing and retail and, among other things, seeks to improve understanding of business opportunities and risks arising from emerging carbon emission constraints. Further information on the pilot is available from Leon Stackpole, Senior Adviser - Environment & Energy, Ai Group, phone (03) 9867 0222.
