Government Funding and Assistance Programs

If you are located in a Local Government Area declared a natural disasters area you may be eligible for assistance under a Natural Disaster Assistance Scheme. More information on Current Natural Disaster Declarations.

 

Assistance in QLD

Small business assistance

Government Funding and assistance for small businesses in QLD has now been announced. Concessional loans up to $250,000 are available to eligible small businesses in disaster declared areas under the jointly funded Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements. These loans can be used purposes such as repairing or replacing damaged plant and equipment, repairing or replacing buildings, supplying stock for up to one month to replace lost stock and maintain liquidity of the business.

Small businesses in the local government areas of Brisbane City, Bundaberg, Banana, Fraser Coast, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Gympie, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan City, Moreton Bay, North Burnett, Redland, Rockhampton, Scenic Rim, Somerset, South Burnett, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Western Downs will be able to apply.

Assistance in NSW

Small business assistance

Loans of up to $130,000 are available at a concessional rate to small businesses affected by disasters and which meet certain eligibility criteria. This finance is available to those unable to obtain assistance through normal channels.

The NSW Rural Assistance Authority administers this scheme. For further information contact the Authority on 1800 678 593.

The ATO can give extensions to normal reporting and payment obligations in certain circumstances, if your business is impacted by natural disaster.

Bank Emergency Relief Packages

Individual banks have announced assistance packages to help business people, farmers, families and individuals in the communities adversely affected by recent severe weather events.

The assistance provided will vary according to individual circumstances, but can include:

  • deferring home loan repayments for up to 3 months
  • restructuring business loans without incurring fees
  • giving credit card holders an emergency credit limit increase
  • refinancing personal loans at a discounted fixed rate
  • waiving interest rate penalties if term deposits are drawn early
  • deferring monthly repayments on equipment finance facilities for 3 months.

Clean-Up Assistance

Many affected QLD local governments are offering free disposal of green waste and debris resulting from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald & associated floods. Contact your local Council for details.
